Official launching of Myansat DTH: MOI UM attended and delivered an opening speech

The official launch ceremony for fourth DTH television channel in Myanmar, Myansat DTH, took place at Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) premises in Tatkone in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on January 15.

The event was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and wife, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win and wife, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo and wife, deputy ministers, relevant departmental officials, invited guests, and the artists.

The opening ceremony, held in the main auditorium, featured an animation to mark the launch of Myansat DTH. A video clip titled "New Horizons of the DTH World" was shown to the audience. In his opening speech, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn emphasized that the new DTH television service would bring joy and new energy to the public.

He highlighted its significance and the benefits it would provide, stating that it would improve access to information, education, and entertainment. He also expressed the Ministry's ongoing efforts to improve the media sector in Myanmar, including expanding both state-run and private media outlets to better serve the people.

Union Minister further noted that with the launch of Myansat DTH, the public would now have the opportunity to select from a variety of high-quality television channels and access more contents, enhancing the media landscape in Myanmar.

Following the speech, CEO of Borderless Broadcast Co., Ltd., U Thuta Zaw, presented an overview of Myansat DTH products and the Myansat app, while Mr. Lee Kyone Ywan, Deputy CEO of Lao Asia Pacific Satellite Co., Ltd., congratulated the team on the successful launch. Subsequently, Union Minister, CEO of Borderless Broadcast Co., Ltd., and the Deputy CEO of Lao Asia Pacific Satellite Co., Ltd. pressed a button to officially launch the Myansat DTH service.

As part of the ceremony, CEO U Thuta Zaw presented a commemorative gift to the Union Minister to mark the Myansat DTH launch. Additionally, Director-General of MRTV U Ye Naing received 3,000 sets of MRTV DTH equipment for use in the development of the country's free-to-air television broadcast system.

Continuing with the event, CEO U Thuta Zaw presented authorization letters to three sales representatives for the distribution of Myansat DTH equipment. Commemorative gifts were also distributed to the guests. The event was followed by a performance by well-known singers, including L Saizi, Moe Thauk, Aye Myat Phyu, Pu Su, and Irine Zin Mar Myint, who entertained the audience with songs, accompanied by the MRTV Orchestra. 

At the end of the ceremony, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Dr. Soe Win, and U Than Tun Oo honored the MRTV Orchestra and the artists by presenting them with prizes and recognition for their performances. Myansat DTH is operated by BBTV in collaboration with China Rocket Co., Ltd., Laosat Co., Ltd. It uses the Laosat 1 satellite to provide education and agricultural knowledge to rural areas in Myanmar with the Multi Village Plan andSky Star Class Room Plan of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

Within the next two years, the project plans to expand its reach to 100 villages, providing DTH equipment, TVs, and solar-powered batteries, with the support of China AID. The initiative aims to reduce poverty and improve the livelihoods of rural communities.
