




An Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS) Revision Coordination Meeting was held at the Union Minister's office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, in Nay Pyi Taw on January 13. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut, Directors-General, Rectors, and ADS representatives.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister highlighted the ongoing implementation of the "Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS)" with three main objectives: good governance, production capacity, and competitiveness. He stated that the successful execution of the strategy would bring benefits such as food security, nutrition, poverty reduction in rural areas, increased income for smallholder farmers, improved competitiveness of agricultural products, enhanced land rights for farmers, and overall strengthening of the agricultural sector.
He also emphasized that, in alignment with the government’s policies and guidelines, and the responsibilities of the National Land Utilization Council and the ADS Implementation and Coordination Work Committee, the ADS (2025-2030) (draft) has been revised based on the proposed activities from relevant departments and universities. He further stated that the results of the ADS, both immediate and long-term, must be feasible and implementable within the current context and over the next five years. The implementation must align with modern systems and practices.
Additionally, the participants in the meeting thoroughly discussed the revised draft of the ADS (2025-2030) with each relevant department, addressing detailed aspects and collaborating on the proposed actions, it’s reported.
