











Library Development and Reading Habit Festival in Kachin State was held at the Myitkyina University on Saturday. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Information and Kachin State Government, hailing the 77th anniversary Kachin State Day.
After formal opening of the ceremony, the students staged performance to mark the commencement of the event. Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Admiral Tin Aung San made a speech, saying that organizing this kind of festival could help the student youths to study the social, cultural, legal and technological maters in one place.
This could support them to understand the global affairs, economic, international relations, technology and environmental matters as well as the literature and culture of ethnic people. He stressed that the government is making efforts for better future of the youth and called for constant studying of teachers and students to support the nation building endeavours.
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn also explained the efforts of the ministry for development of libraries in the country. Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan elaborated on the efforts for development of youths in Kachin State. This was followed by presenting of cash donation, along with the contribution of books and periodicals, and the entertainment program.
The festival featured various programs including display of educational booths, books and periodicals, photo gallery, painting, colouring event, storytelling, impromptu, various fun games.
