Electricity Supply: Extension of power distribution in Myeik Township

Thanintharyi Region Government and Petro & Trans Co., Ltd signed an agreement on extension of power generation and distribution in Myeik Township on Thursday.

Chief Minister U MyatKo attended the event, and urged all to strive for electrification of all wards and villages in the Region while implementing to reduce the charges of electricity bill. In Tanintharyi Region, the Power Distribution Groups have been formed to generate and distribute electricity to the respective wards and areas.

In Dawei, the power Grid has been installed to supply electricity to Dawei, Yay Phyu, Laung Lone and ThayetChaung. For power supply in Myeik, a Sub-Station was established along with the stringing of power line and installation of transformers.

In addition, a gas engine facility has been operated for power supply in Dawei District. More than six megawatts gas turbines and over 20 megawatts diesel facilities are in operation for power supply in Tanintharyi Region. Plans are underway to electrify Kyunsu Township through diesel, solar and hydropower facilities.
