





Myanmar Consumer Protection Commission held its work coordination meeting (1/2025) at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday with the attendance of Commission Chairman Union Minister U Tun Ohn.
Speaking at the meeting, the Union Minister highlighted efforts to implement the Consumer Protection Law (2019), emphasizing cooperation with ASEAN countries and the development of the ASEAN Consumer Empowerment Index.
The ASEAN Consumer Sentiment Survey was conducted in Myanmar between April and June 2023. Ongoing consumer awareness and market surveillance activities are being carried out, including joint inspections with other relevant departments. Since 2017, 48 Consumer Information and Complaint Centers (CICC) have been established and a Consumer Call Center (1535) has operated since 2021.
From January to December 2024, 332 consumer complaints were received, with the majority related to finance, telecommunications and e-commerce.After the Union Minister's speech, the meeting reviewed the status of previous decisions and discussed actions for the Commission. Based on the reports, the Chairman and members made decisions.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Commerce U Min Min, Commission members and the Chairmen of the Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw, Regions and States’ Consumer Affairs Committees, along with other relevant officials.
