





The opening ceremony of Garment Manufacturing Training Course No. (2) was held at the No. (2) Industrial Training Center (Mandalay) in Aung Myay Thar Zan Township,Mandalay Region on January 6.
The event was attended by the Union Minister for Industry, Dr. Charlie Than, the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, U Myo Aung, members of the Mandalay Region Government, and officials from the Ministry of Industry.
Additionally, the Principal and officials from the Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute participated via a virtual system.In his opening speech, the Union Minister explained that Garment Manufacturing Training Course No. (2), which is being launched today, is a collaboration between the Ministry of Industry of Myanmar and the Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute of the People's Republic of China, aimed at developing Myanmar’s garment sector.
He noted that Mandalay is a key economic hub in Myanmar, strategically located as a major trade route between China and India. This makes it an important city for the development of technical and vocational education. As a result, the decision was made to establish the garment training course at the No. (2) Industrial Training Center (Mandalay).
He further emphasized that the surrounding areas of Mandalay, such as Yamethin, Pyawbwe, Meiktila, Wandwin, and Amarapura, are already home to a thriving garment industry, with activities ranging from weaving and textile manufacturing to traditional and industrial weaving. The opening of this course in Mandalay aims to support the continued development of these industries.
The Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, U Myo Aung, and the Principal of the Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute also gave speeches, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the event.
After that, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, along with other attendees, visited the garment training rooms to inspect the teaching materials and observe the current state of training in garment manufacturing.The Union Minister later visited the Mandalay Region Directorate of Industrial Supervison and Inspection and met with the departmental head and staff in the meeting room to discuss their needs and provide guidance.
