The East Flores Regional Government officially ended the emergency response phase for Lewotobi Volcano eruption refugees on December 31, 2024, transitioning to the Emergency to Recovery Transition model.

Based on evaluations of disaster management during the emergency phase and Volcanological Survey of Indonesia assessments showing the volcano’s status downgrade from Level 4 to Level 3, the approach shifted to a recovery-focused transition phase.

Efforts will continue to prioritize refugee management, both in five temporary shelters and for independent survivors, as during the emergency phase.

The government is also expediting the construction of temporary housing and ensuring relocation sites for residents from red zones near the eruption center.

Authorities urged survivors to remain calm during this status transition while ensuring ongoing support and recovery measures.
