South Korea's investigators have halted their attempts to execute a detention warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol.

The joint investigation team said it will review its next steps. The warrant is set to expire on Monday. South Korean media reported that investigators with a detention warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol had entered the premises of the presidential residence in Seoul on Friday morning.

Over 150 officials were deployed to the compound to execute the warrant, but the presidential security service reportedly told that they would not allow the residence to be searched.

Investigators were said to be asking the agency's top official for cooperation by showing the warrant to detain Yoon on suspicion of insurrection over his short-lived martial law declaration.
