Sports Competitions in Sittwe : 77th Independence Day Sports Competitions held

The 77th Independence Day Sports Competitions were held at Dhanyawadi Sports Ground and Stadium in Sittwe of Rakhine State in the morning on January 2.

The Rakhine StateChief Minister U Htein Lin, and wife, the Chairperson of the State Women’s Affairs Committee, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, members of the state government, departmental officials, athletes, and sports enthusiasts attended the event to watch and support the competitions.

The Chief Minister and wife, along with the responsible officials, watched and supported the male and female tug-of-war competitions at the Dhanyawadi Sports Ground in Sittwe. In the men’s tug-of-war, 10 teams competed, and in the women’s tug-of-war, 8 teams participated.

It was reported that the General Administration Department's team won the men’s competition, and the Department of Sports and Physical Education's team won the women’s competition.After that, the Chief Minister and wife, along with other officials, visited the Dhanyawadi Sports Hall to watch the male SepakTakraw competition, which had 18 teams competing.

The 77th Independence Day Sports competitions and fan fair events took place from December 29th, 2024 to January 2nd, 2025, at the Dhanyawadi Sports Ground in Sittwe. The events included 100 meters, 200m, and 400m races, men’s and women’s tug-of-war competitions, men sepaktakraw competition at the Dhanyawadi Sports Hall, and futsal competitions at the Futsal court.
