


In the evening of December 18, 2024, at 5:30 PM, three masked men, riding an unregistered black Honda Click motorcycle, arrived at "Shwe Sin Academy Gold Shop" located 37th Street between 77th Street and 36th Street, in Hayma Malar North Ward, Maha Aung Myay Township, Mandalay Region and robbed gold items weighing a total of approximately 3 viss and 55 tickles (worth about 3 billion kyats) and fled the scene.
According to reports, security personnel initiated an investigation under case number 330/2024 at the Maha Aung Myay Township Police Station, charging the criminals under Penal Code Section 392 (Robbery), to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
On December 23, 2024, at 4:20 PM, security personnel apprehended one of the suspects, Phyo Thet Aung (alias Phyo Lay) from Puthein Gyi Township, near the "K-Mandalay" tea shop in the Ye Mon South Ward of Maha Aung Myay Township.
Upon questioning, he revealed that the robbed gold items were kept in his house. Security forces then searched his home and recovered 62 tickles and 4 pieces of gold, as well as 2 gold rings from an air cooler. Furthermore, on December 24, 2024, at 2:30 AM, security forces arrested the second suspect, Zin Myo Htike (alias Zin Myo) from Chan Aye Tharzan Township, at his residence.
They also recovered an unregistered Honda Click motorcycle (SGG-47W/12410) used in the crime and a total of 24 tickles of gold that had been looted.On December 25, 2024, at around 10:30 PM, in Myawaddy Township, Kayin State, security forces went to the house of another fugitive, Aung Myo Thu, but he was not found.
They did, however, recover 78 tickles of gold and 5 pieces of gold looted during the robbery from the air compressor compartment of his vehicle, a Honda Fit (KYN-47B/5913). According to the statements from the arrested suspects, Phyo Thet Aung (alias Phyo Lay) and Zin Myo Htike (alias Zin Myo), they met with the fugitives Aung Myo Thu and Win Myat Thu from Myawaddy in Mandalay.
During the meeting, Aung Myo Thu was in possession of two pistols, which he used to threaten the staff at the "Shwe Sin Academy Gold Shop" and rob the gold items. The pistols were later found to have been purchased from a man in Myawaddy.
The suspects, Phyo Thet Aung (alias Phyo Lay) and Zin Myo Htike (alias Zin Myo), who were involved in the robbery, are being pursued and investigated according to the law. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining fugitives, Aung Myo Thu and Win Myat Thu.
