A work coordination meeting of the Working Committee on the Elimination and Rehabilitation of Child Labor in the Worst Forms was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Friday.

Deputy Minister U Soe Kyi attended the meeting and made a speech, saying that the work report for the first five-year work plan on the elimination of child labor in Myanmar has been submitted to the National Committee on Child Labour Elimination.

The Working Committee is now implementing the second five-year plan (2024-2028) by laying down six goals. According to the Child Labor Survey (2023-2024) report from the Census Enumeration Work Committee, services, support, and referrals are provided to child laborers based on their needs, in accordance with social case management methods.

He urged all to provide awareness-raising and vocational training through collaborating with relevant departments and organizations so as to develop a qualified workforce, gain knowledge in child protection and care, and realize benefits of reducing the worst forms of forced labor.

The attendees reviewed the activities of the working committee and discussed future work plans.
