Agricultural Sector: Efforts for achieving pedigree rice species

Nay Pyi Taw Council Area is being regarded as the modal area to develop agricultural activities as it possesses a favourable conditions including the human resources.

As part of the efforts. The Agricultural Department, in collaboration with the farmers, has bred rice lineage in Kyay Chaung Village-Tract in Tatkon Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. On 26th December, the researchers together with the local farmers, made field inspection and selected the rice breeds.

Speaking on the occassion, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut stressed that the departmental officials need to research the crops which are in line with the geographical and weather conditions, benefiting the farmers. He also instructed to make efforts in implementing the development of the agricultural products systematically through the expanion of crop cultivation.

The Agricultural Department bred F-6 speices of Kyaw Zeya, Yadanar Toe, Pyae Wa and Shwe ASEAN parent species in farmer U Thein Aung’s farm in Field No. 1304 within Tatkon Township. During the ceremony, the rice species were chosen in accordance with the farmers’ perference and it’s reported that the farmers will continue to breed and select the rice species.
