Honouring the Athletes :Tanintharyi Chief Minister awards the athletes

Anhonouring ceremony for the athletes from Tanintharyi Region who won several medals in the 5th National Sports Festival was held at the meeting hall of the Regional Government office in Dawei on 26th December.

At the ceremony, Chief Minister U MyatKo stressed that the athletes have to make continuous efforts to carry on with the achievements in the future. Next, Region Sports Team Leader Social Affairs minister U ThetNaing made clarifications on participating in the sports competition.

Following this, the Chief Minister presented cash rewards to the gold medalists in the Athletics. Next, Regional Chief Justice of the State High Court and officials presented cash rewards to the coaches and athletes. Tanintharyi Region participated in 20 out of 23 types of sports and bagged 15 gold,6 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Comparing to the 4th National Sports Festival, the region’s gold medal achievement has improved over 50%. Moreover, Tanintharyi Region Athletics team won 11 gold, 2 silver and 6 medals and stood at the first place among the regions and states.
