A suspected synthetic drugs laboratory uncovered by Mexican authorities in the violence-ridden northern Sinaloa state, Mexico. The Sinaloa Cartel, one of Mexico's biggest drug trafficking organizations, was built on cocaine smuggling but over the past decade has changed focus to feeding the US opioid addiction.

The US Drug Enforcement Administration in June said the gang was "largely responsible for the massive influx of fentanyl" into the country over the past eight years. Infighting among the cartel, one of the world's biggest, has left hundreds of people dead since September in Sinaloa.
