More than 556,000 children in Gaza have received their second dose of the polio vaccine, the UNRWA announced. The vaccination campaign, carried out through health centers, mobile clinics, and home visits, was part of efforts to combat a polio outbreak following the first case in Gaza in 25 years.

Despite challenges in northern Gaza due to movement restrictions, the World Health Organization reported an 88% coverage rate. UNRWA, in collaboration with UNICEF and WHO, will continue its vaccination efforts amid ongoing humanitarian challenges in Gaza. Polio, a highly infectious disease, primarily affects children under five and can cause paralysis or death.
