







The Centennial celebration of Yezin Agriculture University was held at the venue on Sunday with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
After the ceremonial ribbon-cutting event, the Prime Minister unveiled the commemorative stone inscription and the signboard of the Centennial Hall, where attendees took a tour around it. The ceremony continued at the Convocation Hall, with the screening of a video clip on the university’s centennial history.
In his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted the country’s efforts to develop the agricultural sector, which is the primary livelihood for most people. He added that the State Administration Council is striving for food sufficiency through the innovative implementation of agriculture and livestock programs. Major crops are being cultivated on 33 million acres of farmland across the country, ensuring local sufficiency and exporting any surplus. He urged all to continue striving to nurture outstanding agriculturists who could serve the interests of the nation and its people.
During the ceremony, anhonourary award was presented to the Department of Agriculture for successfully developing the Yezin Super Rice paddy strain. The event later continued with an explanation of the centennial celebration, the presentation of commemorative gifts, and entertainment programs.
Commemorative booths were also on display as part of the celebration.Established in December 1924 as the Agricultural College and Research Institute in Mandalay, the institution initially offered a three-year Agricultural Diploma program.
It was upgraded to university status in October 1964, and later moved to Yezin, Pyinmana, in 1973. The university now offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Agriculture and Agricultural Science, with a syllabus upgraded to meet international standards.
Over the past 100 years, the university has nurtured over 13,000 degree holders in agriculture, 673 in agricultural science, 85 doctorate degree holders, 70 postgraduate diploma holders, and 11 Master's degree holders.
