A Chinese ice sculptor has dedicated his life to creating vivid artwork in China’s “Ice City” of Harbin, describing his craft as all the more precious for its temporary nature.
Zhang Xin, like many other ice sculptors, is transforming Harbin, capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, into a winter fairytale land as he helps construct the city’s renowned Ice and Snow World.
As Harbin marches to take advantage of its ice and snow tourism, the city is seeing an increasing influx of tourists from both China and the rest of the world, with ice sculpture being one of the biggest attractions.
Zhang said he is thrilled to see Harbin and ice sculptures gain increasing popularity, but he insists that it is the love of the craft that keeps him working.
