European parliament holds silence for Mayotte cyclone victims

The European Parliament, holding a plenary session in Strasbourg, observes a minute's silence in tribute to the victims of the cyclone that has ripped through the French Indian Ocean territory of Mayotte, destroying homes and leaving hundreds feared dead. "Mayotte is Europe and Europe will not abandon you," declared President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
