Work Committee meeting: Work Committee on Social Protection held a meeting

The meeting of the Work Committee on Social Protection was held at the assembly hall of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement in the afternoon on 16th December.

The meeting was chaired by Union Minister for the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win.During the opening remarks, the Union Minister in his capacity as the Chairman of the Committee stated that the "Myanmar National Level Social Protection Strategic Plan (2014)," which was designed to carry out social protection activities for the public, will complete 10 years on December 30th, 2024.

The Minister emphasized the importance of reviewing the implementation of the activities under the plan over the 10-year period, with each relevant ministries, asked to assess and document their contributions. Based on the achievements, benefits, challenges, and obstacles encountered by each ministry during the 10-year period, the Minister called for a more effective and accurate review of the National Level Social Protection Strategic Plan.

The goal is to develop a more refined version of the strategy. The Minister also mentioned that recommendations and reports from the discussions during the meeting will be recorded and given careful consideration for future implementation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers, including those from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement, as well as other senior officials and responsible persons from the relevant departments.
