Japan Prime Minister visits Fukushima

Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru on Saturday visited the Fukushima Daiichi plant, where the 2011 earthquake and tsunami triggered meltdowns in the nuclear reactors. He inspected the progress in the removal of radioactive debris and the release of treated and diluted water.

After the visit, Ishiba expressed his resolve to keep up efforts for Fukushima’s reconstruction. He spoke about the next phase of restoration, which will follow the current phase that ends next year.
