New horizons for Viet Nam-Belgium-EU defence cooperation

Viet Nam’s Ministry of National Defence has inaugurated a Defence Attaché Office in the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union.

This office will represent the Ministry of National Defence, advising and conducting defence diplomacy activities and fostering bilateral defence cooperation. Twenty-one years ago, Viet Nam and Belgium signed a Framework Agreement on Defence Cooperation.

Meanwhile, since 2019, Viet Nam and the European Union have established a framework for Viet Nam’s participation in EU crisis management operations. Currently, Viet Nam engages in defence cooperation with over 100 countries. It maintains Defence Attaché Offices in 35 nations and at the United Nations.
