Work Coordination Meeting: Drafting master plan for the renovation of Shwezigon Pagoda

On 13th December, the 4th work coordination meeting on drafting master plan for the renovation of Shwezigon Pagoda in Bagan Cultural Heritage Site was held at the pagoda board of trustees office with the attendance of Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin.

At the meeting, the Union Minister urged the relevant working committees and organizations to accelerate the current work implementations to complete the master plan in timely manner under the guidance of Head of State. Then, Mandalay Region Development Minister presented necessary suggestions on master plan.

Next, Chairman of the Myanmar Architect Council made clarification on collected data and arrangements to preserve ancient cultural heritage and religious building of the pagoda.

Then, the reports on archaeological excavation, architecture studying, status of conducting research, finding and compiling historical evidences, assessment and inventory collection, HIA analysis, area of the pagoda precinct and land properties, classification of the religious buildings and other requisite matters were presented.

Upon reports, the Union Minister stressed to draft the best possible master plan aiming to preserve original historical evidences. He also emphasized on long-term durability of the ancient artworks and buildings, face lifting of the pagoda and convenience of the pilgrims.
