Commemorative Celebration: 60th anniversary of Yangon University of Economics

A celebration for 60th anniversary of Yangon University of Economics took place at the University on Friday.

Established in 1964, the University stands as a professional institute to nurture economist, statisticians, accountants, and management personnel while conducting research on economic, business and statistical issues related to the Myanmar Economy.

Commemorating the 60th anniversary celebration, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing sent a video message on the occasion.

The ceremony includes variety of programs, featuring the performance by the students and screening of a documentary video clip, as well as the photo gallery and paper reading session.

Rector, Yangon University of Economics, Dr. Tin Tin Htwe said "Being the 60th anniversary event, we wish to organize the celebration, highlighting the prominent teachers of the university and the successive rectors of the university. So, we made arrangements to organize the occasion significantly with the collective efforts of all faculty members, staff and students from our university as well as the alumni."

The University has major teaching departments of Economics, Applied Economics, Statistics, Commerce, and Management Studies. In addition, Myanmar Language, English, Mathematics, and Geography Departments are also in place as supporting Departments.

The undergraduate courses are being offered in Ywa Tha Gyi Campus and Master courses and PhD courses are being conducted in Kamayut Campus. The university started Master of Marketing Management, Master of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management in 2020.
