Supervised by the Tanintharyi Region Government, a simulation exercise aimed at preparing for rapid response in case of natural disasters such as earthquakes in hotels, motels, and guesthouses within the region was held at Hotel Dawei in Dawei Township with the attandance of Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, Chief Justice of the Region, Region Ministers and departmental officials.
During the simulation exercise, the response teams quickly mobilized following an earthquake. Fire trucks and patient transport vehicles arrived swiftly to the scene, and rescue operations were carried out with the use of search-and-rescue equipment.
Subsequently, efforts were made to rescue individuals trapped in the hotel and those injured, providing medical care and triaging patients into categories such as emergency, critical, and regular patients. The injured were then transported to the hospital. A headcount was taken to determine if any individuals remained unaccounted for.
The Chief Minister of Tanintharyi Region, U Myat Ko, explained that natural disasters like earthquakes are unpredictable, which is why such simulations are essential. He expressed gratitude to the relevant departments and participants involved in the exercise, acknowledging their cooperation and efforts, and thanked the Tanintharyi Regional Government for organizing the event.
