Industrial Development: Discussion on classification of Industrial Zones

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than met with the chairmen of the Industrial Zone Management Committees at Pharmaceutical Museum of Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein) in Yangon on 7th December. The meeting was held to ensure the systematic classification of the existing industrial zones.

In his opening speech, the Union Minister in his capacity as the Vice Chairman of the Industry and Industrial Zone Development Central Committee stressed on sustainable development of the industries and industrial zones, prevention and reduction of negative impacts on the natural environment, better industrial zone network, better accountability system and systematic land utilization.

For systematic classification of the industrial zones, the Union Minister highlighted the cross check system to acknowledge the circumstances of the industrial zones and check lists to conduct cross check in respective regions and states.

He also called for the concerted efforts of the relevant individuals for further tasks implementation under the instruction of the Chairman of the Central Committee to ensure the sustainable development of the industries and industrial zones.

The attendees presented sector-wise reports and made discussions on industrial zone check lists, difficulties encountered during industrial zone cross checks. The Union Minister supplemented the discussions and fulfilled requirements.

The meeting was concluded with the closing remarks of the Union Minister. In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited No.24 Heavy Industry (Dagon) and oversaw the Jean pants production process of Golden Theparerg Co., Ltd.
