Sports Competitions of PWDs: SAC members attended and awarded the prizes

The 5th National Sports Festival for Persons with Disabilities, 2024, officially commenced at the Wunna Theiddhi Swimming Pool and Lewe TC-2 Sports Ground of Lewe in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on December 5.

Members of the State Administration Council attended to observe the competitions, support the participants, and present awards to the winners.

The event began with the finals of the men's and women's 50-meter freestyle and breaststroke swimming competitions, held at the Wunna Theiddhi Swimming Pool. Present at the event were State Administration Council members Dr. Ba Shwe, Dr. Hmu Htan, Khun San Lwin, U Shwe Kyein, and U Yan Kyaw, along with Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, Jeng Phang Naw Tang, Deputy Ministers, officials from the Myanmar Swimming Federation, team managers, coaches, and athletes.

Later, the State Administration Council members, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and officials attended the men's seated volleyball matches and the track-and-field events for persons with disabilities held at the Lewe TC-2 Sports Ground.

Following the competitions, an awarding ceremony was held where State Administration Council members, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and officials presented medals, cash prizes, trophies, and mascot of the National Sports Festival to the first, second, and third-place winners in various categories.

These included the men's and women's swimming events, men's seated volleyball, and track-and-field competitions for persons with disabilities. The festival will continue on December 6 and 8, featuring events such as men’s and women’s track-and-field competitions, swimming competitions, men’s seated volleyball, and men’s and women’s blind chess tournaments, to be held at their respective venues.
