Bilateral Cooperation: Bilateral health ministers’ meeting

Union Minister of Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win, currently visiting the People's Republic of China, attended a bilateral meeting with Mr. Lei Haicho, Minister of Health of the National Health Commission of China, on December 3, 2024.

During the meeting, they exchanged views and discussed matters related to enhancing healthcare cooperation between Myanmar and China. They discussed on the matters included Initiatives by the heads of state, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and President Xi Jinping to prioritize traditional medicine, China's donation of medicines, medical supplies and vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic, collaborative efforts between Myanmar CDC and China CDC, including ongoing partnerships supported by the Chinese government, such as the construction of Myanmar CDC in Nay Pyi Taw, the development of human resources in health sector in Myanmar by sending doctors, dentists, nurses, and technicians to China for advanced training, plans for active healthcare collaboration to mark the 75th anniversary of Myanmar-China diplomatic relations in 2025.

The discussions were characterized by mutual understanding and transparency, fostering a shared commitment to advancing healthcare ties. Later in the evening, the Myanmar delegation, led by the Union Minister, attended a dinner hosted by the Chinese Health Minister and officials from the National Health Commission.
