Discussion on Energy Sector: MoE UM received Russian State Duma delegation

Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin received a delegation led by H.E. Mr. Sholban Kara-Ool, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, on the morning of December 4, 2024, at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, discussions were held on collaborating with Russian companies to enhance oil production from Myanmar’s mature oil fields using modern technologies, inviting Russian investments in oil and natural gas exploration, drilling, and production activities in Myanmar’s onshore and offshore blocks, leveraging Myanmar’s strategic geopolitical location to explore opportunities for LNG import and distribution, and utilizing the existing pipeline network for LNG trade, import and distribution of crude oil and petroleum products, establishing new oil refineries and fertilizer plants in Myanmar, and upgrading existing facilities with potential Russian investments, strengthening bilateral energy cooperation to enhance efficiency and mutual benefits, Developing human resources in the energy sector.

Both sides openly exchanged views to explore and strengthen energy collaboration between Myanmar and Russia effectively.
