





The Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than attended the opening ceremony of Electrical Power Skill Basic Training (2/2024) held at the training hall of Electrical Power Skill Training Center in Mayangone Township of Yangon Region via Virtual System on 2nd of December.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister delivered an opening speech for the training stating that this course was initiated with the objectives of enhancing understanding of the fundamentals of electricity, electrical laws, electrical codes, and related procedures, enabling participants to perform electrical tasks more proficiently, ensuring electrical safety, increasing employment opportunities and fostering the development of human resources.
The minister emphasized the necessity of advancing industrial manufacturing and SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in a country. To ensure the growth of manufacturing industries, it is essential to utilize electrical power effectively to operate machinery, install systems systematically, and perform maintenance accurately.
This highlights the demand for skilled electrical technicians. Therefore, this training aims not only to support human resource development and industrial progress but also to produce reliable employees and proficient electricians who can confidently contribute to their workplaces.
The Basic Electrical Skills Training Program (Batch 2/2024) will cover subjects such as basic electricity, electrical metering devices, basic electronics, electrical circuits, household electrical appliances, grounding and lightning protection, electrical wiring, transformer basics, AC-DC motors (including motor starters), electrical substations, high-voltage transmission lines, testing and grounding procedures, voltage regulators, safety guidelines for electrical installations, fundamental principles of elevators and escalators, electrical safety, general knowledge, the pros and cons of electrical wiring, generators, electrical laws, and inspection procedures related to the Department of Electrical Inspection.
The training will accommodate a total of 60 participants from various ministries and private factories/workshops. It will be conducted over eight weeks, from December 2, 2024, to January 24, 2025.
