Regional Meetings: Myanmar hosts 13th ASEAN Youth Ministers Meeting

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan presided over the 13th ASEAN Youth Ministers Meeting and 9th ASEAN+3 Youth Ministers Meeting at the MGallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 30th November.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister, ASEAN Youth Ministers, ASEAN secretariat on ASEAN Socio Cultural Community and many other concerned officials both in person and virtual system. In his opening remarks, the Union Minister stressed the crucial role of nurturing youths who are driving force to create better ASEAN Community with strengthening innovation and socio-economic development.

He also highlighted the importance of mutual understanding and integration between diverse culture and characteristics in shaping harmonious society. It was followed by reading the report of 13th ASEAN Youth Senior Officials Meeting, sector-wise discussions of the ASEAN Youth Ministers and adoption of joint agreement.

After making clarifications on time and place of the 14th ASEAN Youth Senior Officials Meeting, the 1st session of the meeting was concluded. In 2nd session, the Union Minister in his capacity as Chairman of the 9th ASEAN+3 Ministers Meeting expressed aspiration in achieving best outcomes of the meeting.

Then, the report of the 12th ASEAN+3 Youth Senior Officials Meeting was read out. It was followed by sector wise discussions of the ASEAN+3 Youth Ministers under the theme “Encouraging Youth’s Contribution Towards a Cohesive Society in ASEAN” and adoption of joint agreement.

After setting time and place for the 10th ASEAN+3 Youth Ministers Meeting, the chairmanship of ASEAN+3 Youth Ministers Meeting was transferred to the Philippines and Japan respectively.
