Central Committee Meeting: Committee Chairman delivered an opening speech

Chairman of the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods, member of State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo delivered an opening speech at a Meeting (4/2024) of the Central Committee held at the Union Government Office in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

In his opening speech, the Chairman of Central Committee addressed various issues, including efforts to ensure the smooth and timely operation of export and import businesses, improving the delivery and transportation of goods through the Myanmar-Thailand border (Yangon-Kawthaung-Ranong) with a container system, and ensuring the swift clearance and export of containers.

He also discussed the timely receipt of export earnings, issues related to the import and distribution of industrial fuel, and the interception of illegal fuel imports. He emphasized the priority measures being taken to facilitate smoother operations.

To ensure the success of export targets, the Chairman called for increased cooperation with relevant ministries, UMFCCI, MRF, and other associations, urging all stakeholders to work together. He highlighted that finding new markets for export products is key to increasing exports and generating more foreign currency inflows.

The Chairman also stated that container shipments through the Myanmar Industrial Port (MIP) and The Myanmar Terminal (TMT) at Yangon-Kawthaung-Ranong border had been successfully implemented since June 2024, challenges faced by companies regarding entry of export earnings should be continuously discussed and resolved through cooperation, the relevant departments need to take necessary actions against companies that have failed to fulfill their commitments to make entry of export earnings.

Following the Chairman’s address, committee members and invited guests presented their reports and discussed issues related to trade and goods flow in their respective sectors. After the presentations and discussions, the Chairman of the Central Committee supplemented the necessary points and closed the meeting.
