




The Malaysia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to be finalized next year, with both countries accelerating stalled negotiations. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the agreement will likely be signed during South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol's return visit to Malaysia. Delayed since 2019 due to Malaysia's political instability, negotiations are now progressing as the domestic situation stabilizes.
Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia’s Prime Minister said “Our government is determined to make whatever changes necessary, to make Malaysia attractive, with the right policies, reasonable incentives and proper adequate infrastructure, which also includes training and getting professionals with discipline and the technical know-how. These issues are being addressed and that is why you can see now, the phase of (increase) development rate and also there is capacity to attract the new industries.”
At the Malaysia-Korea Business Forum in Seoul, he also discussed new developments, including Hyundai Motor’s upcoming 2.16 billion Ringgit investment in a new Malaysian plant, set to create significant job opportunities.
