New Faculty Departments: NSA expands Sports and Social Master Classes

The Nay Pyi Taw State Academy held the opening ceremony for the Master Departments of Sports and Social Subjects on Friday.

The event began with a ceremonial ribbon cut by Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe, alongside Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khaing and Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo.

The Union Ministers and Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman then warmly greeted the students studying in the classrooms while offering words of encouragement. The second part of the ceremony continued at the Academy’s Multipurpose Hall.

In his speech, Union Minister Dr. Nyunt Pe noted that the Academy, established in 2022, aims to foster creativity and promote applied research through quality education, with the addition of two newly expanded Master Departments of Sports and Social Subjects in the 2024-2025 academic year. He expressed his firm belief that modern sports science and international-level sports management would elevate Myanmar's sports standards and produce qualified athletes and coaches. He also outlined the aim of newly opened Department of Social Subject to train social science graduates capable of addressing issues faced by vulnerable groups in Myanmar, including children, women, the disabled and the elderly through social work methods.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, Naypyitaw State Academy started offering postgraduate courses, with a total enrollment of approximately 1,500 students.

The Union Minister also highlighted the student-centered learning system at Naypyitaw State Academy, with classrooms equipped with smart blackboards, modern teaching aids, and internet access. He also mentioned plans to provide qualified teachers and resources for expanded courses.

Next, Union Ministers U Min Thein Zan, Dr. Soe Win, and Dr. Thet Thet Khaing delivered congratulatory speeches marking the establishment of the new departments, followed by the presentation of commemorative gifts and sports equipment by Union Ministers Dr. Soe Win and U Min Thein Zan.
