




The meeting of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2025 Implementation Committees’ was held on 22nd November at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw.
Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw addressed the opening remarks, sharing the experiences of the 56th ASEAN Economic Ministers' (AEM) Meeting and Related Meetings which were held in September, and 24th ASEAN Economic Community Council (AECC) Meeting which was held in October in Lao PDR.
The Union Minister urged working committees to cooperate in the implementation of this year Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) which was set by Lao PDR under her ASEAN chairmanship and Annual Priorities to be implemented in 2024 together with other ASEAN Member States in timely manner. He highlighted the importance of the ASEAN Centrality and urged the working committee to maintain the ASEAN Centrality in the discussion with the dialogues partners of ASEAN. He also tasked the working committed to intensity the efforts to implement the AEC activities in coming year in order to support the achievement AEC 2025, and the work to develop the strategic schedule of AEC post-2025. This was followed by explanation on the discussions and outcomes of the 56th AEM Meeting and Related Meetings, and 24th AECC Meeting, and the activities to be carried out in 2024.
The meeting also reported the implementation of the AEC measures and the challenges of the implementation especially the needs of capacity buildings. The Union Minister provided the guidance on the report of the working committees. 22 working committees were established for the effective implementation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2025, and each committee is led by deputy ministers and permanent secretary from the relevant ministries.
