Trip to Yunnan: MOIP Union Minister visits Yunnan Province

On November 21, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, along with Myanmar Consul-General U Thwin Htet Lin, met with the Chinese Deputy Minister of Public Security Mr. Xu Ganlu and his delegation at the Shang Shui Hotel in Kunming, Yunnan Province, during their visit to China.

During the meeting, the Chinese Deputy Minister of Public Security reaffirmed China's full support for Myanmar's peace process, saying that internal peace is crucial for the nation's development. He highlighted concerns over border violence and urged armed terrorist groups to cease fighting and engage in peace talks.

He also called for monitoring border points and supporting Myanmar's ongoing nationwide census. He added that China will keep working to ensure peace and stability in Myanmar and promote friendly trade between the two nations.

Then, Union Minister U Myint Kyaing stated that the Myanmar government is committed to peace and stability in border areas and welcomes armed groups to pursue peace. He also highlighted the government's five-point roadmap and its plan to hold a free and fair multi party democratic general election in 2025.

The Union Minister elaborated on efforts to reopen border gates and strengthen collaborative initiatives for regional peace and stability, followed by a constructive exchange of views from both sides.The Union Minister and delegation departed for Yangon in the afternoon, where they were warmly welcomed by officials from the Chinese Embassy at Yangon International Airport.
