3rd day of Gems Emporium: MNREC UM inspected sales of pearl lots

The 2024 Mid-Year Gems Emporium continued its third day at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, with gems and jewelry shops thriving and attracting a steady stream of visitors and buyers.

Local and foreign gems and jewelry merchants toured the displays of pearls, jade and gem lots inside the hall, as well as raw jade lots outside. The gems and jewary merchants examined the pearl lots 141 to 280 and the tender price proposal were put into the tender boxes and responsible officials opened the tender boxes and announced 100 pearl lots sold.

In the evening, Patron of the Myanmar Emporium Central Committee Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi inspected the opening of tender boxes for pearl lots and lists of pearl sales and gave necessary instruction.

On the fourth day, 160 gems lots will be available for sale through the open tender system. The base price of those gems lots is set in US dollars. Foreign buyers can pay in US dollars, euros, yuan, Thai baht or other currencies accepted by the Central Bank of Myanmar, while local buyers may pay in foreign currencies or kyats.Similarly, out of 4,800 jade lots, categorized into three groups: Jade lots from Group A and Group B will be sold from November 22 to 24 and jade lots from Group C from 25 to 27.

Also, the jewelry and gems shops are open inside the Mani Yadana Jade Hall, drawing numerous visitors and buyers.  The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation organizes annual exhibitions to develop Myanmar’s gems and pearl sectors. The 2024 Mid-Year Myanmar Gems Emporium will run from November 18 to 27 at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall.
