





To mark the 35th anniversary of the convention on the rights of the child, the celebration of World Children’s Day was held at the Assembly Hall of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Wednesday.
Chairman of the National Committee on the Rights of the Child, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win attended the event and delivered the opening speech.In his speech, the Union Minister highlighted that the Ministry, in collaboration with the National Committee on the Rights of the Child and local committees at the Region, State, district and township levels, has been working to ensure the protection and welfare of the children including investments in education, free healthcare, and the promotion of children's rights, with a focus on ensuring that all children’s benefit.
He further noted that the theme set by the United Nations for this year's World Children's Day is “Listen to the Future.” This theme emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the voices and needs of children worldwide, so that children everywhere can fully enjoy their rights and participate equally without discrimination.
He urged the government and relevant organizations to join forces in achieving these goals.The celebration continued with the screening of a documentary video on the implementation of children’s rights.
Later, children from the Nay Pyi Taw Child Care Center along with the children from the temporary youth training school in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay School for the Deaf, Malikha Girls School (Yangon), and the KyaikWaing Youth Training School, presented performances of dance. Following the performances, the Union Minister presented awards and gifts to the children and posed for a commemorative group photo.
