India test-fires its first hypersonic missile

India has successfully test-fired its first hypersonic missile, achieving a speed exceeding five times the speed of sound. The missile, capable of carrying various payloads over 1,500km, marks a significant advancement in India's defense capabilities, positioning the nation among a select group with hypersonic technology.

The missile was tracked by various range systems deployed in multiple domains. The flight data obtained from down range ship stations confirmed the successful terminal maneuvers and impact with high degree of accuracy," the official said.
