


Japan and Peru have agreed to cooperate in building and strengthening resilient and reliable supply chains for critical minerals. The agreement came when Japan's Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru met Peruvian President Dina Boluarte at the Presidential Palace in Peru's capital, Lima, on Sunday.
The two leaders issued a joint statement after the summit meeting. The statement says Japan and Peru recognize that both countries have more than 150 years of diplomatic relations. It also says the two countries reaffirm that they are international partners in maintaining and strengthening the free and open international order based on the rule of law.
Ishiba also paid tribute to the late former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori as part of an official visit.
