Maritime Agency Commitment to Sustainability

The Malaysian Maritime Institute (MIMA) strengthens its commitment to sustainability through involvement in various projects. The Chairman of MIMA stated that these projects include the development of green shipping practices, the use of hybrid systems and electric propulsion, as well as the implementation of waste reduction initiatives.

Elaborating further, he said involvement in this project ensures that Malaysia aligns with the goals of the International Maritime Organization, reducing carbon emissions intensity by 45 percent by the year 2030. In Malaysia, the maritime sector plays a crucial role, accounting for approximately 40% of the nation’s GDP and facilitating over 90% of exports via sea routes.
