Public health review meeting: MoH UM gave an opening speech

A central-level public health review meeting scheduled from November 12 to November 14 is being held to evaluate the public health activities conducted across various regions, states, districts, and townships throughout 2023 in Union Territory Naypyidaw and the opening ceremony was held at Meeting Hall No. 4 of the Ministry of Health November 12.

Union Minister for Health, Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win, gave a speech emphasizing the importance of health staff maintaining good relationships with the public due to their direct contact with the community. He stressed the need for placing doctors in every hospital and maintaining cleanliness in hospitals and clinics as directed by the head of State.

Furthermore, public relations training courses will be offered to health workers to improve their interaction with the public and patients. The Minister also highlighted the importance of inter-sectoral collaboration in implementing public health activities. He advised that the newly established Myanmar Center for Disease Control and Training Center in Naypyidaw should carry out its tasks effectively to ensure internationally recognized and efficient implementation of infectious disease prevention and control efforts. Deputy Minister of Health, Professor Dr. Aye Tun, addressed the need for region and state public health directors to submit comprehensive reports with feedback and ensure the supervision of rural health departments.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of improving healthcare services for rural populations. Director-General of the Union Minister’s Office, U Sein Win, discussed administrative management issues. The second part of the meeting continued at Public Health Department No. 47, chaired by Dr. Myint Myint Than, Director-General of the Public Health Department. Region and state public health directors presented the achievements, challenges, weaknesses, and future plans for the public health activities conducted in 2023.

The first day of the meeting ended at 5:30 p.m. The review meeting will continue from November 12 to 14, 2024, with awards to be presented on the third day to region and state public health departments that demonstrated outstanding public health activities in 2023.
