Kathina offering ceremony :Families of the Office of C-in-C offered Kathina robe

Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held the 2024 Kathina offering ceremony at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) in the morning on 12th November, attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla who donated Kathina robes and alms.

The ceremony was attended by 27 members of the Sangha led by the Chairman Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamabyan Sarthintaik Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, Secretary of the SSMNC Mahanayaka of Masoeyein Taikthit Presiding Sayadaw of Dhammasamiddhi monastery Baddanta Vasethabhivamsa, Ovadacariya Sayadaws of the Uppatasanti Pagoda Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and wife, the Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, senior military officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives and officials.

First, the Senior General and wife and congregation viewed round display of Kathina robes, alms and Padethabin to be donated to monasteries. The Senior General and wife paid homage to the Buddha Image in Anawrahta Hall and offered alms in the emerald alms-bowl, flowers, water, oil lamps and fruits.

The ceremony was opened with three-time recitation of Namo Tassa, and they all took the Five Precepts from Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadawgyi and listened to recitation of Metta Sutta by members of the Sangha. The Senior General and wife offered Kathina robes to Presiding Patron of Yezin Kan-U Monastery in Zeyathiri Township Bhaddanta Javana and Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadawgyi.

SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and his wife Daw Than Than Nwe donated Kathina robes and offerings to Secretary Sayadw of SSMNC, Mahanayaka of Masoeyein Taikthit Presiding Sayadaw of Dhammasamiddhi monastery Baddanta Vasethabhivamsa, Senior military officers and their wives also presented Kathina robes and alms to members of the Sangha.

Two members of Sangha from Yezin Kan-U Monastery performed a question-and-answer session for Kathina robe-offering process. They all listened to a sermon delivered by the Secretary Sayadw of SSMNC, Mahanayaka of Masoeyein Taikthit  and shared the merits.

After the ceremony, the Senior General, wife and congregation offered day meals to members of the Sangha led by the Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Mahanayaka Committee, Thanlyin Min Kyaung Sayadaw. The donated offerings for the 2024 Kathina robe-offering ceremony were conveyed from Anawrahta Hall to Uppatasanti Pagoda on 10th November.

At the ceremony, staff and families from offices and departments from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) donated Kathina robes and offertories worth more than 243.278 million Kyats, and these were sent to relevant monasteries by car.
