Paddy Harvesting: Model plantation in Sittwe harvested

Monsoon paddy model plot, cultivated in the field of Prison Department in Sittwe was harvested on Saturday. Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin attended the event, and urged local farmers to strive for extended cultivation of crops to boost production, ensuring local food sufficiency.

During the event, winter crop seeds were provided to local farmers. During 2024-2025 cultivation season, over 1 million acres monsoon paddy was targeted to plant in Rakhine State. Among them, more than 872,000 acres have been completed, accounting for over 86% of the target. In Sittwe, over 8,500 acres out of more than 22,000 targeted acres of monsoon paddy have been planted during this year. The harvested model plantation has yielded 97 baskets per acres.
