





Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than visited No.2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) in Taunggyi on Thursday, and inspected the installation of machines and test operation.
The Union Minister instructed for timely completion of the installation works, conducting training for skillful operating the machines. The Union Minister later attended a coordination meeting for Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Industrial Zones.
In his capacity as the Chairman of the Work Committee for MSME Development, the Union Minister highlighted the efforts of the Ministry in development of MSME enterprises and industrial zones such as examining the domestic production sector, establishing industries and industrial zones in line with the existing laws, forming supervising committee, etc.
Necessary collaborative measures are being carried out to ensure the local cotton and edible oil sufficiency. The Union Minister also outlined loan disbursement for the MSME entrepreneurs, One Region One Product project implementation in Shan State, installation of E-Market Platform for market penetration, developing of Webportal for online registration as well as the significant cooperation activities with the international organizations in drawing SME Policy Index 2024.
Next, the Director General of the Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection clarified the completion of work implementation in accordance with the instructions of head of state, MSME Industrial Zone law, by laws and future orientations.
Then, the Shan State Chief Minister made discussions on forming of industrial management committees as well as plans drawing and implementation in line with the existing laws and encouraged the attendees to present the difficulties encountered and necessities.
In his closing remark, the Union Minister stressed the role of agencies in MSME development, holding workshops to enhance the capabilities of the MSME entrepreneurs as well as the crucial role of MSME in development of nation’s economic sector.
