Chhath Celebrations underway offering worship to Sun God

The four-day Chhath Festival is being celebrated in Nepal with great enthusiasm on 7th November. The main ritual of this festival will begin in the evening today offering prayers and offerings to the setting Sun. Devotees take a holy bath while fasting and worship the sun, standing in water, and offering Prasad and Argha to the setting sun in the evening.

The Sun considered as the God of energy and of the life-force, is worshiped during the Chhath festival to promote well-being, prosperity and progress. There is a religious belief that no one will suffer from skin disease if Argha is offered by worshipping the Sun ritually.
