Forest Conservation: MONREC Union Minister inspects thriving forest plantations

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi visited 10 acres seed production area of Monedaing Forest Reserve in Meikhtila Township on Thursday.

He heard reports on collection of seeds, storage, distribution and seedling condition. The Union Minister instructed for extension of the seed production area for sustainability of local quality species that could withstand the tropical weather condition.

The Union Minister also oversaw the thriving of 30 acre village firewood plantation and 25 acre plantation of other hard woods. On arrival at Mae Nyo Taung Forest Research in Ma Hlaing and Wuntwin Townships, the Union Minister inspected thriving of forests plantation including 100 acres village firewood plantation along the expressway.

At Doe Gwin Nursery Garden in Pyin Oo Lwin Township, the Union Minister oversaw the seedling of various saplings and conservation of herbal plants and native orchids. They then proceeded to Pyin Oo Lwin National Kandawgyi Gardens and inspected the progress of greening and beautifying works, upgrading of facilities, proper drainage system, replanting of trees and renovation of recreation areas.

Later in the day, the Union Minister and party visited May Myo Forest Reserve and viewed the thriving condition of forests plantation and Cherry plantation.
