





Member of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo and party visited Sule Port and Wadan Jetty, managed by the Myanmar Port Authority, to inspect cargo loading and unloading operations and the storage conditions of goods in the port warehouses on 5th November.
First, SAC member Union Minister accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Myanmar Port Authority, arrived at Sule Port. The Chief Engineer of the Myanmar Port Authority presented the current maintenance status of the storage facilities, revenue-generating activities for the state and the department, and the action plans to be carried out.
The Union Minister instructed that, as the dry season has begun, efforts should focus on enhancing the operational capacity of Sule Port, particularly for exporting Myanmar’s agricultural products from Yangon Port. He emphasized the importance of ensuring safety and security in cargo transportation and maintaining a high level of service in port operations, as ports play a crucial role in the country's continuous socio-economic development.
He also instructed for regular inspections and maintenance of both government and privately-owned jetties to ensure their strength and functionality. Additionally, he called for special attention to be given to security and fire safety in the port area.
Following this, the Union Minister and party inspected the installation of rubber fenders at Sule Port Terminals 1, 2, and 3, ensuring quality control, workplace safety, and measures for safe docking of foreign-flagged vessels, as the port serves international ships.
Later, the Union Minister and party visited the Lanmadaw Port area, where they inspected the conditions of the storage facilities at the Myanmar Railways Wadan Warehouse and the railway tracks. They also checked the conditions of jetties for domestic passenger boats, ferry terminals connecting Yangon River’s opposite bank, and port storage facilities.
