Japan has successfully placed a defense communications satellite into orbit using its new flagship H3 Rocket. The rocket lifted off from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima at 3:48 p.m. on Monday. This marks the third consecutive successful launch of the H3, following improvements made after a failed launch last year.
The new satellite will enhance the Defense Ministry’s communication system, enabling better information sharing for forces in remote areas. Two other satellites are currently operational. Details regarding the size and capabilities of the satellite have not been disclosed due to security concerns from the Defense Ministry and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
