






The Urea Fertilizer PurchasingandDistribution Steering Committee held a work coordination meeting at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development on Monday.
The Chairman of the steering committee Union Minister U Hla Moe attended the meeting and gave an opening speech. In his speech, the Union Minister highlighted the implementation of a competitive pricing system for urea fertilizer purchasing and sales.
He called for systematic supervision to address any excessive profits and to verify the accuracy of fixed sales prices. He urged collaboration with relevant government entities to monitor potential price manipulation and called on all departments and organizations for comprehensive cooperation to ensure timely availability of input, improve quality and reduce prices.
Then, the Secretary of the Steering Committee provided an update on work undertaken since the previous meeting, the planned import volumes of fertilizers and pesticides for October, November and December, along with international price conditions.
An official from the Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed, and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association then reported on fertilizer prices and the conditions for purchase, distribution and sale. The members of the Steering Committee also made discussions and the relevant officials from the Central Bank of Myanmar and the Myanmar Rice Federation gave sector-specific insights.
The meeting then concluded with closing remarks by the Union Minister. On a separate occasion, the Union Minister met with 69 graduates from Nationalities Youth Resource Development Degree College (Yangon and Sagaing) who will serve as senior clerks at the Ministry.
He urged them to collaborate with departmental staff, remain neutral and free from party politics, respect the Official Secrets Act and prioritized the interests of the state and its citizens. The Union Minister then fulfilled their needs.
