New Delhi, India, was covered in toxic smog on Friday, with air pollution increasing after a fireworks ban was largely ignored during Diwali celebrations.

Sherlyn Richman, Tourist said "Different experiences, I suppose it is very clear and crisp in the morning, the sky is blue, blue, blue and the difference here is that obviously is a haze where you can’t see the clear blue sky whereas in Australia, yeah we don’t have this happening Despite city officials prohibiting the sale and use of firecrackers last month, the atmosphere was filled with noise from celebratory explosions."

With over 30 million residents, New Delhi's congested streets consistently rank among the most polluted urban areas in the world.
